Civil Works, Inc. is pleased to share we have a new opportunity for a Transportation Engineer to join our firm in Miami & Ft. Lauderdale!
In the role of Transportation Engineer, CWI will count on you to:
- Work as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects and work independently on smaller projects
- Prepare the following roadway/highway design work using FDOT, local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, roadway drainage
- Prepare the following elements of various sizes of contract plans, specifications and estimates: roadway sections, alignment/right-of-way plans, site preparation plans, roadway profiles, drainage plans and profiles, utility plans, paving, pavement marking plans, signing plans, traffic control plans, Signalization Plans, Lighting Plans
- Assist in the management of larger projects and/or manage smaller projects
- Include preparing scopes, budgets and schedules
- Serve as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinates technical efforts within discipline areas.
- Manage the following work elements: day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client, support and advise junior engineers and technical staff, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with sub-consultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep client satisfied
- Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineering License in Florida
- 5+ years (post P.E.) of increasingly responsible design experience
- Proficient knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads, and/or Autodesk Civil3D Experience with FDOT Bar Menus or other design software as appropriate
- Knowledge of the FDOT Design Manual a must
- Previous experience designing District 4 and 6 projects preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our Civil Works Team
Work schedule: Enjoy a four-day work week! Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. On rare occasions, Fridays and/or weekend work may be needed, with ample notice provided.
Location: This is a full-time, in-office position.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
